Will the MWCDC be represented on Tuesday?
by 15211Advocate ~ April 18th, 2008. Filed under: Development, MWCDC, Zoning.I ask this simple question to any board members or staffers out there that reads this site.
It has come to our attention that there is a possibility that the MWCDC might not have representation at this pivotal Map Pittsburgh planning hearing. Is this true? Is the CDC going to back out of a vote that took place on April 3rd by the board even after members have asked for representation? Isn’t that what the CDC is there for?
If this happens, I believe there will have to be an outcry to remove some of the leadership in the MWCDC Board by its paying members. You have been asked by members to please show MWCDC representation. If you haven’t, consider this article that request. The time has come to back up what you say and what you vote for.
Another question is, If the CDC is present at the meeting, what will their stance be? Will they stand up and say they support LNC zoning on Viginia Ave? The logical answer to that is YES since they voted YES. But who knows? Is something “backroom” taking place?
The majority of Mt. Washington residents are in favor of new business and residential development and we need the Virginia Ave. LNC zoning upgrade that Map Pittsburgh has suggested to make any forward progress up here in the 15211. The benefits of this zoning upgrade far out way the negatives.
As a leader you cannot expect to make all of the people happy all of the time. This might be one of those instances but remember, the majority of Mt. Washingont is in favor of these upgrades. I have a feeling that a lot of “Thank You’s” will be coming the way of any board member or any CDC member for that matter who does the right thing on Tuesday.
Peace, and go outside and enjoy this beautiful day!

Advocate,
Why are we even discussing this again? Didn’t the board vote to support changing the zoning on Viginia? Why wouldn’t they follow through with what they already agreed upon?

That’s the question i guess. The issue came up for about an hour at the forum meeting the other night. I thought it was a done deal too. Hence this post.
The comments from the Board just weren’t reassuring enough.. they sounded like they were waffling yet again. They didn’t say they would be present at the hearing and they should be.
Since there are members of the CDC asking for representation they should be there to support this proposal. Will they though? If not I say some of the board need to resign because they aren’t doing their jobs.

Unless they change their mind I know of at least one person from the board speaking for the zoning change. So lets not get all fired up, when there is no reason to be.

sounds like this might give us members a reason to ask for the resignation of the prez if he doesn’t show or send someone in his place. or should i say ANOTHER reason. i’m sure that if this was something that his “boss” supported he would be there.
this proposal is so common sense it’s ridiculous and the folks from that dead end street are looking very desperate, spreading rumors and trying to scare the seniors in the area. pathetic.

Regarding the pots, the 4 suggestions- I cannot accept any of them!Fact 1 Last year flowers were supplied by the WPA Conservancy which they received from the left overs from the gazebo planting. Fact 2 the Volunteers and staff from the MWCDC planted the flowers in the pots.Fact3Out of every 5 pots only 1business takes care of thir own, that means 4 pots are neglected.Fact4 Ask the staff of the MWCDC who pulled the red wagon around & had 2-10gallon water drums in the wagon and watered the pots once a weekFact5 I walk down the bus. districts at least 5 times a week last summer, I saw dead plants, cigarette butts, trash, beer cans. Common Sense 1. IF the business owners cannot afford $15. a flat maybe they can all chip in and get a cheaper price.Common Sens 2. You do not have to put away for winter or pay to water and clean. Some bz would take care of it themselves. Common Sense 3. If a business cannot maintain the pots, that means they don’t want them, so take away from those businesses.
