They can come, so why haven’t we built it?

by Mountain Girl ~ February 4th, 2010. Filed under: Infrastructure, MWCDC.

Along with the progress that’s been made on the One Grandview project, grant money has been given to examine the infrastructure elsewhere on the hilltop. Read the Tribune-Review article about it here.

With T service already in place in Beechview and Allentown, it makes sense to thoughtfully revitalize the surrounding business districts. People make their way to the East End in droves for shopping and working without the same level of reliable transportation. In comparison, the Hilltop is much more centrally located–closer to downtown, the South Side and major roadways to all points North, East and West–so I say it’s about time. Thanks to all who continue to work for change in the Hilltop neighborhoods.

The proposed, (I’ll believe its really happening when I see the wrecking ball) project at One Grandview, will attract developers that have been hesitating to “deal” with our past negative feelings on major construction. Our community has been in a time warp and I really think lots of positive change is a comin.

Over the years it has been really difficult to get anything accepted in this community. The majority has been against any type of change. Developers have had to go to mtg after mtg after mtg. Change their plans go to zoning, council, back to community, council, zoning. Are other neighborhoods as hard headed and close minded as this one.???
