Pittsburgh 250 Traffic Alerts
by Mountain Girl ~ October 3rd, 2008. Filed under: Events.I guess I didn’t realize what a hugely big deal is being made about the Pittsburgh 250 celebration and the fireworks on Saturday night. Anyway, here is the traffic information I’ve been able to gather. We’ll update it tomorrow if need be.
Spectators should note that Point State Park - from the Portal Bridge to the fountain - will be closed during the fireworks due to park renovations and safety reasons. The record 17 launch positions (exceeding the 10 launch positions in ‘Millennium Pittsburgh’) will be the largest number of launch sites in the country.
Daytime Downtown Road Closures: 11am-3pm
- Grant Street off ramps from Parkway East and West
- Grant Street to the Boulevard of the Allies
- Boulevard of the Allies to Commonwealth Place
- Commonwealth Place
- Fort Pitt Bridge on and off ramps
Fireworks River/Bridge Closures
- Sixth Street Bridge on the Allegheny River: 7pm-12am
- Wabash Bridge piers on the Monongahela River: 7pm-12am
- 500 feet beyond the West End Bridge on the Ohio River: 7pm-12am
- West End Bridge: One-and-a-half lanes city-side: 9am-8pm Full Closure: 8pm-12am
