Obama to Create White House Office of Urban Policy

It seems President Elect Obama is attempting to refocus the country’s priorities on cities. In an NPR interview last week, he describes urban areas as the “building blocks for strong regions” and signals his commitment to strengthening them.

Potential implications for Pittsburgh and Mt. Washington by extension could be more federal funding for things like infrastructure, schools, etc. With this investment and attention comes more accountability for how monies are spent. It will be interesting to see how it shakes out nationally and how these strategies will affect Pittsburgh and our neighborhood.
