Neighborhood Heroes

These condos being built on Bailey Avenue are the personification of Peter K. and Steven H.’s commitment to improve Mt. Washington. They’ve invested in the neighborhood in a variety of ways and should be commended for it. Thanks guys.
Is there anyone you know that’s going above-and-beyond for Mt. Washington?

I was just told about this website and I can’t say I am happy about it. Criticizing the CDC board is not going to help. I’ve lived here for a long time and I know what I’m talking about. I think people that just moved here need to let people who are a bit wiser run things.

DD,
As one of the creators of this site I have to tell you that I think you’re taking the idea behind this web site wrong.
We here at 15211.org believe in Mt. Washington and we know it’s one of the best neighborhoods in the city. We love the people, the location, the beauty, the green spaces, the slowly growing nite life, oh yeah, I forgot.. the view! We know this is one of the hidden gems of the city and had the potential to be one of the most sought after neighborhood around.
We want others in this city to think this about MW, and we want the people that live in Mt. Washington to know what’s going on up here. The good and the bad, the positives and the negatives. We all live up here, it doesn’t belong to just a few, but to all of us.
I’m glad you found the site. Please stay involved in the conversation. If there is something you like that’s going on up here, tell us (and everyone that read us) about it. If there is something going on you don’t like, tell us about it. We want this to be a forum and a place to hang and chat about MW and all it’s glory!

Honestly DD, I am glad to hear that you are reading this website, but I think that you are wrong about criticizing the CDC. The only way we can effect change on Mt. Washington and ensure that we are making the best decisions for the community is to have a dialogue. This website is an excellent forum to discuss our viewpoints (ha!) and to allow everyone regardless of age, wisdom, or amount of years they’ve spent on the Mount to have an opinion. Please judge the comments you’ve read on this website by their content, not by the age (or the perceived age) of the posters.

You know, I don’t take too kindly to suggestions that older equates with wiser. I think that the ideal is effective policy based on meaningful dialog and consensus, not letting any single interest run things. And people wonder why young people leave Pittsburgh. Good grief!

Amy:
Are you a homeowner? What is your opinion on encouraging renters to get involved with community efforts? I know there has been some dissent about it.
