Mt. Washington Teen Curfew… USELESS???
by 15211Advocate ~ June 26th, 2008. Filed under: Crime, Latest News. The Post Gazette is reporting today that the curfew set recently for Mt. Washington (and other areas) are pretty much useless since they have nowhere to send the violators of this curfew.
Budget cuts shut down the center for curfew violators… go figure.

I JUST heard this on the news. How rediculous. Why do the kids have to go to a center as opposed to just going home? I’m lost there…

Unfortunately, they have no one to go home to.

When the parents of our community start giving our children a curfew and stick to it maybe the situations with teen problems will cease. Children should not dictake to a parent how they are going to do what they want to do. Sometime the problem is’nt the children but the parent. Each parent have to find a solution to what is going on in the household with there child or children. Remember this, The children of today will be the parents of tomorrow. How we raise our children reflews on the road they may take in life as they mature into adulthood. We can’t save them all but we can guild and love them in a way that communication can work as they grow into adulthood. In some cases you both can grow together…..Please think about it.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… the free range teens/pre-teens in our nieghborhood are at the root of many of our problems …
These are the folks most likely responsible for turning over the planters and graffitti and littering and all of that petty stuff …
the kids that live down the street from me like to hang out in front of my house - -sitting on my wall, throwing trash on the ground etc…
When I tell them to move on … the tell me to F off and the like …. if you confront their parents, the parents defend them.

And the federal government continues to take money from Head Start programs. sigh. If we addressed the problems caused by abusive or neglectful parents before kids turned 5, at least some of them wouldn’t turn into destructive teenagers.

Livin on the mount: I hope you have a block watch in your neighborhood. That kind of stuff we (who do have a block watch) won’t put up with! Especially in front of your own property. Call 911. Also during the week no one under 18 is allowed on the street past 11:00. If everyone on your street was part of a block watch and would call the police, believe me the police will arrive. Power in numbers!
