Ok everyone it stopped snowing, the sun is out, get out and shovel your sidewalk.  If you have any seniors living near you, do your good deed for the day.. This goes for both home owners and renters.

I think that it is an important reminder that we should all help our neighbors.  Doesn't matter if you own property or rent.  Lend a helping hand.  Everyone is not able to shovel their own sidewalks or dig out their cars.  My neighbor was a superhero today helping our entire block.  Kudos to you Shawn!  Smile

How about we actually get a plow to come down a few streets so we can actually drive the cars we all dug out. Where is Penndot, or the city?

You can dig you car out, but there is no where to go.  the only street off Mt Wash that is open is Boggs Ave, all others including McArdle is closed.

And my Comcast Cable TV has been out since Friday, and they can not reconnect it until this Thursday…Thank you Comcast for great customer service.  They accidentally disconnected it…and no one has said they are sorry yet.   So three days stuck in the house with no Comcast Cable TV…nice, huh???   Guess I am better off than those without electric and heat or water..

When is the weather supposed to warm up?   (remember I do not have cable )  There is just too much snow, when you dig out your car where do you put the snow???

A plow is such a novel invention…I wonder if the city has heard of it. I understand that this was a massive storm and all, but come on, it stopped snowing 48 hours ago and I haven't seen a plow go down my street.

I finally got off the mountain this morning.  51 is open at Woodruff and Boggs, but McArdle is still closed.  I hope they get to the secondary streets today.  Downtown is a complete mess,  but I made it to work in Cranberry without incident.

Landlord – the news folks are calling for 6 more inches of snow on Tuesday PM.  Don't think we'll be getting much of a break for a while.  Frown

Foodland didn't have much as of yesterday, so hopefully they'll get a shipment in today (specifically bread – though they did have some at the bakery).

Thanks to all my neighbors who helped us dig out and push the car when we got stuck.  What a great neighborhood.  Smile

Good luck everyone.

Yeah it has been pretty cool seeing everyone in the neighborhood come together and help each other out. My wife's car got stranded 4 blocks away from home on Fri. night so we tried moving it yesterday and we couldn't make it up our street (Hallock) so we tried Olympia and got stranded there, but 4-5 people who were shoveling came over and helped push and shovel the car to a parking spot that we cleared. It was pretty cool so on the walk back home my wife and I helped out a few other people who were in the same predicament.

Can anybody tell me how the roads are up there? I have been stuck at a friends house since friday and I want to go home to see my daughter. I have a 95 rodeo rear wheel drive, I want to be safe but I hear that only greenleaf is open. Can you please provide me with accurate updated information. Thank you for your time I do really appreciate it

Good news, bad news. It really depends where you live.  Grandview and Virginia are fine. Bailey is ok. Wyoming is ok. Greenbush looks like it has not been touched. Kambach is bad.  Bertha is awlful.  I hear Shaler is bad.   I met someone at Cafe Cravings who lives on Shaler that has had their power out since Sat. Morning.  A lot of the back streets are terrible.  There is no place to park.  Just got back from Foodland. The shelves are bare!

Woodruff/Boggs/Warrington to Beltzhoover to Boggs are the only ways on/off the Mount.  Earlier looked like they had made progress on McArdle, but it still wasn't open when I last went past.  Upper Kearsage (intersects with Grandview) still not plowed, and sort of clear/sort of horrible for driving.  They plowed the other side of Kearsarge though (intersects with Belonda).  MAIN roads on the Mount are somewhat clear…but even if you get up here, there is NOWHERE to park, other than the Foodland lot and/or the municpal lot across the street.  Over Boggs/Beltzhoover way, lots of folks still not dug out, side streets unplowed/untreated.  No wonder there's no school tomorrow.  Power outages are still sporadic up here, so that's another concern…

Anyone else notice all of those power lines sagging under fallen trees on Woodruff near the Wabash tunnel?  Lovely lovely lovely.

As of yesterday around 4:15 pm, McArdle was open both ways, and perfectly clear.  There was a light pole down but it wasn't obstructing traffic.  The road actually looked beautiful with all the snow covered trees overhead.

This morning I went down Sycamore toward Station Sq. and it was snowy but passable by car (no 4-wheel).

Like Kearsarge gal mentioned, nowhere to park.  Mounds of snow covering the sides of the streets.

Downtown was terrible yesterday morning, as was the north shore this morning – snow and slush all over the road and tough to drive.

The city is a joke, anyone with common sense would know the way to clear the streets is to lay down salt when the snow is falling. Salt melts SNOW! Then you don't have to pile it 90 feet high in the middle of the street. It would be nice to see Ulysses cleared rather than a place where you can see how many loops your car can do in a single spot. If anyone with a plow is kind enough stop by Ulysses, the residents would appreciate it.

Winter Storms bring out the best and worst in people.  I witnessed those who readily pitch in to help their neighbor.  But also witness those who endanger others by not cleaning their sidewalks, abandoning their cars in the middle of the street, parking in a spot that their neighbor just spent hours shoveling. Also be a little kinder to the city, they are doing their best with what they have.  That is why the National Guard was called.  We have a crisis folks, and it is snowing again. Quit complaining, chill out, go with the flow. We cannot control the weather.     Laughing

Hey guys,

I live on West Sycamore, and have been snowed out all week.  I was gone during the weekend, and then basically told not to bother trying to come back because of the conditions.

Have things gotten ANY better?  I just want to go live in my apartment again.

Haven't seen Sycamore, but the other roads are not in good shape. Snow packed on top of snow and now ice. Stay safe whever you are.

Hey "Resident". Are you employed? I mean do you have to be concerned about making money that requires being able to travel to your place of employment during the week? Everyone I know that doesn't live on Mt Washington is making it to their destinations quite alright. Our problem is that every road in or out of Mt. Washington is being neglected. Plow Woodruff and everything should be good. Everyone wishes they could "go with the flow" but living in New England for 20 years I realized Pittsburgh is terrible at handling snow storms. Everyone just waits for the snow to fall and then "attempts" to clean up, where as other places plow as it falls so it's not an issue when the storm passes. As far as parking, they are city streets, you snooze you lose.

Thanks MG.  I'm guessing it's still pretty impassible.  Do you think there's any chance of getting a spot in that parking garage on Shiloh, or maybe down on Carson somewhere where I could take the incline?  I'm just really sick of sleeping on couches and such and would like to get home.

I'm glad I stumbled across this site.  Thanks again.
