All of you have legitimate concerns, fears, and hatred and a plethora of ideas. Let’s channel this into constructive combativeness. Yes, combat the insidious element who thinks that they are going to overtake the neighborhood. This thread can go on indefinitely and nothing will come out of it but back biting and back and forth jabs. The establishments aren’t the problems – the punks and trouble makers are the problems.

Instead of raising a campaign to close places we must band together. We need to have a meeting at a central and nutural location. Representatives of Zone 3 must be present, Youth Squad, Juvenille Court, a representative from the city with youth crime statistics and general statistics. Then deduce from those facts where our efforts need to be channeled.

So who is up for it? Are you all willing to participate? I will help organize. Who’s in?

Hi Alex,

Let's see who else joins in on this post. Lets say give them a couple of days? As you see from my name — by no means am I shy! I was born and raised on Mount Washington and I refuse to let it go into the hands of thugs! I will be glad to set up the meeting as soon as we inspire more people. I know we can count on Diana?

Not that is matters because we are all ONE community — but which side of the Mount do you live? Boggs — or out Virginia?

Hi All,

I am trying for Tuesday October 28, at 7 p.m. — I have to confirm the place so I don't want to tell you where we are meeting until I know that it is available. I spoke to one of my contacts and we are working on getting statistics. I am more looking at who these people are and where they are coming from — meaning, from or not from our neighborhood.

This meeting will be for information — possibly we can come up with some strategies to combat the insidious and too often problem.

In the meantime lets stay on alert. Keep attuned to the happenings around so that we can all share what we see and hear. The more information that we know and hear – the better prepared we will be to tackle this problem.

Hi All,

I have to retract that previous date because of a conflict with the meeting place. The date for this meeting is:

Wednesday November 5 — 7 PM at the Senior Center on Virginia Avenue.

Everyone is invited — if you know someone who has been a victim of the recent rash of crime tell them to be there. Tell yoour friends and neighbors — we need people from every corner of Mount Washington.

This meeting is intended to discuss what has been happening and how best to combat the problems.

Regards,

Melissa

Do You Have A Clue

Do you people have any clue to what is going on around your neighborhood? Closing down ream rec would only increase the problems. I knowthat the people think that what we did was kool as kids / look at how many of Adults are DRUNKS AND DRUG ABUSERS. These are the people that should be blamed for the reckless youth that are vrunning around. ADULTS TEACH Children BAD Habits/ we have to many Mt. WASHINGTON Lifers that are Running drugs out of their houses in DH. Shut down the drug runners on the first block of Augusta. Too many people worked hard to give the children of Mt Washington something to do and some place to go so we do not lose more children thru the cracks. If the Children did so well before we reopen the rec how come there are so many 20 something kid from the Mount in jail and rehab!

Knock it off — right there — who ever you are?

If there are drug dealers, as you purport, then take a proactive stance and call 311. If you have credible information to give — 311 will pass it to narcotics for the department to handle.

Simple — Do something about it! If I lived on that street I would have handled that situation the first notion that there was drug activity.

As far as blaming the kids from the Ream Center – I have never done so and I think it's a good thing for the kids. Your tirade about people in this neighborhood teaching kids the wrong way to act is just counterproductive and the opposite of what I believe is your intent? Don’t act childish and point out what the other person is doing wrong take control and set an example by doing something about it.

Come to the meeting on Wednesday Nov 5, 7PM at the Senior Center. Come with your passion — not your anger – we can’t take control of our neighborhood with angry and divisive people. Come listen, learn and share.

We need to set examples as to how we really want to live in Mount Washington and that is not being tolerable of older ladies being mugged in broad daylight.

Regards,

Melissa
