Hi!

I haven't figured out how to register on here yet, so I apologize for lack of personal info., but my boyfriend and I live on Bigham and we have a few things for sale/free that I thought I could post on here. I'm trying to pay for some doctor's appts. sans insurance so anything I sell is going right towards that, in case you wanted to know. 412.215.6196

rectangular piece of glass - free if you come get it. It's the size of a smallish coffee table. The previous tenant left it behind and I have no use for it but it's there if you need something like that.

antique-style lamp in need of shade repair - $15 - the lamp itself is great, the style of the shade is great… unfortunately it's become too old and the shade needs repaired or replaced. If you like mini-projects and antiques, this is totally for you. I don't know that it's truly antique, but everything I've had to sell was from some point in the 50s up until the late 80s. This definitely looks older to me.

computer chair - $10 - it's missing the screws to hold the armrest on one side, but they're standard size screws. We just don't have any use for it. Burgundy fabric with black metal and plastic components. Originally from Ikea and I think I paid $75 for it. Swivel-style with adjustable back and height.

wicker loveseat with green seat pillows - if you are interested, please contact me. Basically we just need to get it out of his old apt. so if you offer anything for it around the $20 to $30 mark we can make arrangements to go down there and pick it up.

19″ older style hp computer monitor - $20 - works fine, just not flashy and compact like the new ones. I have no room for it or I'd still hold onto it. Good quality image and nice to use if you have a laptop or just need an extra monitor and can't afford to get a newer one right now.

white curtains with yellow flowers - free - hook style curtains for older curtain rods. Again, previous tenant left them behind so there's nothing wrong with them, they just don't match anything I have. They'd be cute for a sunny room or a little girl's bedroom. The fabric is a little heavier so it would add some warmth as well. No idea what size they are but I can let you know when I get home.

Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers - DVD Full Screen - $5 - I have an extra copy so I thought I'd see if anyone would want to buy it. :) Brand new, unopened (plastic still on and everything).

I might have a few other things as well since we're going through an extensive cleaning process aka storage problem haha so I will see if I can think of anything else.

Thanks!

In case you are thinking about the wicker loveseat and if it can be used outdoors, the loveseat is natural wicker and probably not treated for outdoor use. However, I found this online from Martha Stewart.

It's best to weatherproof outdoor wicker furniture

Q: Can you give me some tips on weatherproofing wicker furniture?

A: Wicker - the inner stem, or reed, of the rattan plant - looks great outdoors, but it's susceptible to heat and sunlight, which dry out the natural fibers and make wicker brittle. Once it dries out, wicker may simply fall apart. Rain and dew also take their toll.

To answer your question, I consulted David Feuer at Yorkville Caning, a New York City company that does wonderful restoration work on wicker. Feuer recommends painting wicker furniture once every three years with a good-quality paint: Spray or brush on two coats, letting each coat dry completely, then top with a coating of marine varnish (available at paint stores).

If you like the look of unfinished wicker, you can use marine varnish alone. A good, valuable piece of unpainted wicker, however, should never be painted - its value would be ruined. Unsealed wicker will oxidize and change colors - an effect that can also be charming - but you'll need to be more diligent about routine care.

To keep wicker from drying out, mist it every three weeks. This doesn't mean drench it. Aim a spray bottle about three feet away from the piece, spray and let mist settle. Dust and vacuum wicker regularly to keep dirt from accumulating in the crevices. Once a season, clean the furniture with a soft brush and Murphy's Oil Soap and water to remove mildew. This, says Feuer, is the most important thing you can do.”

Hi,

If anyone is interested in the wicker loveseat (I know I spoke with Diane yesterday about a few details), please let me know today. We HAVE to have it out of the old apt. tonight and we do not have storage space at the new place. Which means this will end up at the Goodwill in the South Side or worse, in the trash if we can't get someone to help us haul it down there.

Thanks!
