Similar to many of us living in 15211, I go to Redbeards quite a lot. I usually have a great time drinking affordable beer and socializing with friends. It's a nice unpretentious bar that is generally pretty hopping. Two things that I wish the owner would change that would make me happier. (1) Make the bar non-smoking. Yes, I know this is probably a pipe dream, but Redbeards really is the only smoking bar I frequent, so I'm not used to sitting in a cloud of smoke all night, coming home feeling like I smoked a pack of cigarettes. (2) Move the dartboards to minimize the chance of injury to patrons. The boards are smack in the middle of the middle room and it's very awkward to walk in and out or to access the back room without worrying that you're going to be hid by a wayward dart. And the dart players can get really possessive of their space. I was there recently and actually saw a fight break up between dart players and some patrons who were sitting at the tables in the room as there just was not enough space for people to be playing darts when the bar is at capacity (as it was during that evening). If the owners aren't careful, there may be a real injury to someone and they may be subjected to a law suit.

I've been there three times. I've never really had an enjoyable experience. First time, the bartender was a complete snob. I was treated like I was an inconvenience since he had to pour my drink and because I asked for change. This interfered with him hanging out with his “bro-ski friends” at the other end of the bar.

Second time, sat at the bar, ordered wings and a beer and watched a game on the TV. It was a bit of a slow night, but I had an empty glass when my food came out, before I could even hint to the bartender my drink was empty, he disappeared for about 15 minutes. Frustrating.

Third and last time I went there, sat at a table and had lunch with two friends. Again, horrible service. It was again a semi-slow day, waited sometimes 15-20 minutes between refills (AFTER the glass was empty), didn't bring us any utensils to eat with, and again with the “attitude”.

I can see how some people might enjoy it, but three for three, I won't stop there again. There's many good places at Station Square as well as The Shiloh and Cafe Niko's (in the evenings).

I've always enjoyed it but I agree with SarahJ. Those dart boards are in a crazy place!

Dont feel personally insulted about the snobbiness or less than great service….thats re beards…

I used to live a block away and go there ALL the time (when I was a little bit younger, and I would get ttreated like a stranger every time … even getting carded sometimes by the same servers over and over
