What: A public hearing scheduled in City Council Chambers for a Zone Change Petition for One Grandview Avenue. (From GPR-C, Grandview Public Realm Subdistrict C; R2-H, Residential Two-Unit, High Density [...]

Us

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I’ve had some interesting conversations with people since the Planning Commission approved the new zoning designation at One Grandview last week. Some are in favor of the development, some are opposed. The theme that emerged most often in these discussions was the notion that we’re in an “us” vs. “them” battle. Interestingly enough, it wasn’t [...]

Leave the planting to the professionals

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Alex posted a link in our comments about an article Brian O’Neill wrote in the PG yesterday and I wanted to highlight it. One, because it’s Mt. Washington-centric and two, because it involves the planting of trees on our hillsides.
Are you sighing and/or rolling your eyes? Because I am.
Again, residents are questioning the trees and [...]

One Grandview

Friday, June 19th, 2009

As is indicative of any neighborhood anywhere, rumors swirl around development projects. And sometimes it’s hard to tell fact from fiction. Last night at the Mt. Washington Community Development Corporation (MWCDC) forum, the developer and architect of The Edge site attempted to set the record straight about their intentions for One Grandview.
Specs (view a preliminary [...]

…and thanks JT Smith And Greg Panza for sending this along. Mountain Girl had a hectic weekend and didn’t have time for the ritualistic reading of the Sunday Post-Gazette whilst drinking a pot of coffee so I missed this.
Brian O’Neill’s article references Stoodthere.com, which is a site that allows people to share their photos and [...]

World’s Most Stunning City Skylines

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Forbes Traveler released it’s top 13 list of the most beautiful skylines in the world and we made it. And by “we”, I mean Mt. Washington because, after all, that’s where people come to see it. So next time you’re walking to the incline or jogging along Grandview, stop for a second and take it all [...]

Press Conference in Grandview Park

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Governor Rendell, former presidential candidate Tom Vilsack, and a number of other local and regional politicians kicked off an Obama campaign initiative yesterday in Grandview Park. Does anyone know if this was a last minute press conference? If their intent was to hold a press conference in the park simply to use the city as [...]

Post-Gazette reporter strolls Grandview Park and eats at Bellissimo’s

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

A 15211 reader told us about an article in the Post-Gazette yesterday by reporter Brian O’Neill. He uses the new Google Map Pedometer to stroll from downtown to Grandview Park and back. And he stops to grab a slice of pizza on Shiloh along the way.
This little trek could be marketed to visitors, don’t you think?
