We here at 15211.org would like to thank the MWCDC board and the MWREDO folks for supporting the Map Pittsburgh’s proposed zoning upgrades to Virginia Ave. and other areas in Mt. Washington.

That being said, there is a MWCDC member forum meeting tomorrow evening (Thursday, April 17). It is open to all CDC members and anyone who might be looking to join the CDC. If you have ever been interested in getting involved in our community please come and check things out, and remember the CDC is just one of many ways to get involved!!!

At this meeting the issue about the CDC supporting the zoning upgrades is bound to be discussed, both for and against. At the Board meeting on April 3, the board voted on whether or not to support the Map Pittsburgh proposal. I believe the vote was 11-YES and 0-NO with 3 members abstaining and 4 members absent. This was a vote to help Mt. Washington move forward. I hope the board members understand how much we, as residents, appreciate the organization listening to the opinions of the majority of the community.

Call to Action PART 1:

If you agree with the zoning changes to Virginia Avenue, please take a moment and send the Board Members of the MWCDC a “THANK YOU” email or phone call. They need to hear the communities support for their vote as I’m sure they have heard the vocal minorities complaints. The Board members put in a lot of time and work, and it’s all volunteer. Every now and then a little thanks can go a long way.

Call to Action PART 2:

There is a public hearing at the Planning Commission on April 22nd at 2pm.

If you are a member of the CDC please request that there is a CDC Board member present at the Planning Commission hearing and request that they speak in support of the proposal. They have voted and should be in attendance. Typically the President of the board would be the person to attend and speak in support of this, but if he cannot attend another board member should be appointed as a representative of the CDC and it’s members.
