Bigbee Field Tree Planting

by Mountain Girl ~ April 12th, 2008. Filed under: Community, The View, Volunteer.

treeIf you have a green thumb or just want to bond with your Mt. Washington neighbors, Bigbee Field at 1pm is where it’s at tomorrow.

There are trees to be planted and brush to be cleared. Apparently, the trees that were selected for this spot are low-lying so trimming them will not be an issue as it has been with other trees over the years. In other words, greenery and scenery will peacefully co-exist.

Thanks MG for reminding everyone of the volunteer opportunity in 15211 this afternoon. Again, 1:00 pm Rain or Shine!! Unfortunately, with the rain yesterday its quite muddy down there, so wear boots!

Wanted to thank everyone for helping yesterday at the Bigbee Tree Planting. The weather was miserable, it was muddy, sometimes rainy, but everyone worked really hard and we accomplished most of our goals. About 32 people showed up, I found it interesting that a good percentage were not from Mt. Washington.

So there were people not from Mt. Washington? What was there motivation for being there then? Were they from another organization or just people that wanted to help? Very interesting indeed.

Advocate: I didn’t really take a count but I was surprised at how many were not from 15211. There were at least 9 people from other communities that just wanted to help. I met some really special people Sunday, who just honestly want to give back, it doesn’t matter to them what community they volunteer for!
